i never knew that there was a difference between a nerd, a geek and a dork.
it's kinda irrelevant here in Singapore though, not like in the States. but i guess the most over-used word here would be nerd. i so remember, back in my younger days, that i called my 2nd bro a nerd. so a decade on or so, do i still think he is one? *ponders*

yes, i agree that words can really pierce through one's heart, or make one's day. but isn't it "more than words is all you have to do to make it real...more than words to show you feel"?
in a positive context, you can tell someone "I Love You" or "You're special" (or whatever it is. you get the point) but if you don't show them or make them feel loved or special, then aren't all the words you said all so redundant. to put it in Singlish terms, 'NATO'(No Action, Talk Only).
in a negative context, however, when you hurt someone with words, it really goes right to the core of your soul. but what if that someone didn't show his/her hurt towards you? would you still be considered hurt just by the words?
there's this one episode of 'Malcom In The Middle' where Reese keeps tormenting a girl he has a crush on. i don't really get it. if you like a person so much, how did you in the first place have the heart to hurt him/her? but come to think of it, he wanted to seek attention from the girl, and being unable to express it positively, he did it the other way round.
back in the primary school days, i'm sure most girls had this kinda autograph book where you asked your classmates to write stuff bout themselves + some nice message to you. well most times there will a small section with the header 'Friends'. then one would break it into 3 categories, the most common would be 'Gold, Silver, Bronze'. i don't know if i was able to break them down back then, but looking back, i think such categorization is , to put it simply, stupid.
it's like, "Okay, X is my gold friend, so i'm supposed to treat her better than Z, who's just a bronze". At that rate, if you were gonna do that, sheesh. i've nothin more to say.

i've this thingy bout calling someone even a friend, whatmore, a good friend.
Friend: one who has been with you for at least one good or bad time in your life, and vice versa.
which comes to another point.
how do you actually know whether the other person treats you as a good friend, or just simply a friend? or not even a friend?
it hurts to know that you treat someone as a good friend, yet he/she just treats you as a friend. but such things can't be pushed for. if you've told someone one of your darkest secrets, does that make the person you told it to, instantly, your good friend?
so at the end of the day, how do you know how much of a 'friend' that friend is?
there are just some things where 'show' is enough.
i don't know. trust to me is sucha fragile thing when it comes to friends whom you just knew i.e. barely a year perhaps? but hey, isn't there a saying "Quality over quantity"?
